Artist Residency Application

Welcome to Art Farm

About the International Artist Residency

1-30th of September of 2018 Artists' Cultural Exchange (ACE) will be hosting four international artists at Art Farm in the countryside near the village of Fennville, Michigan. The land is beautiful with tiny lakes, islands and rivers. The Art Barn has a metal and wood shop. Painters can paint the scenery on the land or take a bus to paint at Lake Michigan or in the lovely town of Saugatuck. Paper makers will have access to supplies, a Holland beater and vats. The weekends will be spent at American homes getting to know the Americans and their culture and foods.  A trip to Chicago and Detroit will be planned to go to museums and galleries. We hope to have an exhibition of the artists' work as well.

What is Included?

Most food, housing, and most transportation while on the residency. The weekdays will be spent at Art Farm. Two or more weekends will be homestays in American homes. We plan an overnight in both Chicago and Detroit.

Who is eligible to attend?

Any visual artist holding a foreign passport and living outside of the United States.  Artists should be friendly and interested in trying new foods, meeting new people and learning about new cultures.  Each artist should be prepared to give a three hour workshop or a one hour talk about their art or some aspect of art.

Where will the International Residency be located?

Art Farm is located in the countryside near the village of Fennville, Michigan.  Fennville is about halfway between Chicago and Detroit and fifteen minutes from the beaches and sand

dunes of Lake Michigan. Although it is in the country a bus is available to take guests to the tourist town of Saugatuck, Lake Michigan and the surrounding areas. Art Farm is situated on 21 acres of forested and grassy lands.  It has three ponds and three tiny islands. Surrounding Art farms are farm lands and forests. It is a place of great peace and serenity.

Art Farm has two giant barns, one with a metal woodworking shop, one with a painting studio, family style eating space, and exhibition space.  There are indoor and outdoor kitchens, a paddleboat and swimming dock, fish to feed or to feed on, and lovely spaces to read, write, sleep and enjoy.
